Singles Summer Shape-Up


Most people understand that you need to be happy with yourself before you can have a successful and rewarding relationship. It’s an age old cliche’ that most of us gloss over instead of actually investing in the details.

We’ve all heard the saying, “You can’t love someone else until you love yourself.” But what does that really mean? And why is it so important?

When you’re happy with yourself, you’re confident and secure in who you are. You don’t need someone else to make you happy. You’re content with your own company and you enjoy your own life.

When you’re in a relationship with someone who is happy with themselves, it makes the relationship stronger. You’re both able to support each other and grow together. You’re not relying on each other for happiness, so you’re less likely to put pressure on each other.

On the other hand, if you’re not happy with yourself, it can be difficult to be in a healthy relationship. You may be more likely to put your partner on a pedestal and expect them to make you happy. You may also be more likely to be insecure and jealous.

If you’re not happy with yourself, it’s important to work on yourself before you get into a relationship. Here are a few things you can do:

Spend time with yourself. Get to know yourself better. What are your interests? What are your values? What makes you happy?
Do things that make you happy. This could be anything from reading a book to going for a walk in nature. Make sure you’re doing things that make you feel good about yourself.

Set goals for yourself. Having goals gives you something to work towards and helps you feel more accomplished.
Surround yourself with positive people. The people you spend time with have a big impact on your mood and outlook on life. Make sure you’re surrounding yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself.

Do a mind, body, and soul self-inventory. Are you really happy with yourself? Where do you need work? Maybe you want to clear your mind by adding meditation or Yoga or rehabilitate your mental state through therapy or life coaching? Maybe you have never fully invested in your physical fitness and it’s time to pull the trigger on a fitness routine or healthy eating? Maybe you don’t have enough outlets for your soul to re-charge and you make more time to be barefoot on the beach, join a book club, or spend a week in solitude to feed your soul.

If you’re happy with yourself, you’ll be more likely to attract a healthy relationship. You’ll be more confident and secure, and you’ll be able to give and receive love more freely. People add all sorts of self-care to their life in order to feel good and attract healthy partners. If you don’t feel good about yourself you’re inviting that same energy into your future relationships right from the outset.

Spring is an awesome time right on the verge of summer to make some additions to your lifestyle that will benefit you and also be elevate your love life. Take some time to work on yourself before you get into a relationship. It will be worth it in the long run.
